Starting with the design, the Redmi Note 3 boasts a premium metallic design and excellent build quality, it feels great and looks beautiful, while the curved edges on the back gives it a good grip as well. The phone has a 5.5 inches Full HD display with 401 ppi pixel density and has very good display quality but, it doesn’t come with Gorilla Glass screen protection. The Redmi Note 3 is powered by the newly launched Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 Processor which has 6 cores, out of which four are 1.4 GHz Cortex-A53 and the rest two are 1.8 GHz Cortex-A72 CPU’s which handle the heavy usage. The Redmi Note 3 is the world’s first phone to come with Snapdragon 650 processor, which is very powerful and delivers performance better than many flagship processors, it also doesn’t heat up much as well. The phone comes in two variants, one has 16 GB storage + 2 GB RAM and the other has 32 GB storage + 3 GB RAM (priced at Rs. 11,999). It is equipped with a 16 MP rear camera which comes with PDAF and Dual-Tone LED Flash and clicks very good quality images. The phone runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop with Xiaomi’s beautiful MIUI 7 running on top. Also, despite a big battery and metal build, the phone weighs 164 grams and has a thickness of 8.65mm so, you get all the features without the added bulkiness.Overall, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 delivers flagship like performance, a good looking premium design and packs all the excellent features at a very good price, it is really a great buy and is undoubtedly the best smartphone under 10000 Rs. in India. If you want a little smaller phone, the Xiaomi Redmi 3S Prime with 5 inches screen, 3 GB RAM, 13 MP Camera and 4100 mAh battery can be an absolutely great buy.

It has a 5.5 inches Full HD screen with 403 ppi pixel density, the display quality is very good. The screen is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The Le 1s Eco runs on the powerful 2.2 GHz Mediatek Helio X10 Turbo 6795T Octa Core Processor coupled with 3 GB RAM and delivers consistently good performance. On the front, it has a 5 MP shooter which also comes with F2.0 aperture and 85 degrees wide-angle lens, it also produces good selfies. The Le 1s Eco brings 3 important features which are hardly seen in a 10,000 Rs. phone, the fingerprint scanner, USB Type-C port for fast charging and the Infrared (IR) Blaster to let you control devices like music systems, T.V., A.C., etc. from your phone itself. It is a dual sim phone and supports 4G on both the sim. It has got 32 GB internal memory out of which around 25 GB is free for the user but, the phone doesn’t have the microSD slot. It has a Li-Po 3000 mAh battery. The company also promises to have already started service centres in many cities. Overall, the LeEco Le 1s Eco comes with a great design and is equally powerful and feature packed smartphone which makes a great value for money deal at this price, also, the company is also focused towards improving the user experience of its customers in the Indian market. It can be a very good choice at this price, specially, with the free LeEco entertainment package membership, it becomes a great buy.

Lenovo is on fire in India, it is launching back to back hit and great value for money phones in the budget segment. The Lenovo K4 Note is the successor of the massively popular Lenovo K3 Note. Starting with the design, it has a metallic frame and metallic edges but the back panel is plastic, it packs a good looking design, it has got rounded corners, curved back panel and there is chrome finish on all the edges and also on a small unit on the back containing the camera and fingerprint scanner. It features a 5.5 inches Full HD display with good colour reproduction and viewing angles, it is a very good display overall. It comes with Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box with Lenovo’s new Vibe UI 3.0 running on top. In the version 3.0, Lenovo has quite improved its Vibe UI, it now comes with more features and also includes the option to arrange your icons in an App drawer like Stock Android. The phone has a 13 MP rear camera with PDAF (Phase Detection Autofocus) and Dual-LED flash and takes good pictures. The 5 MP front camera is also good. Another important feature is the fingerprint scanner which can be used to quickly unlock the phone even when the screen is turned off, it can also be used to take pictures. 4. Moto G (3rd Gen):

A great fact is that, Moto G has been the most selling product across any category on any e-commerce platform in the history of Indian e-commerce. Well, it has a glorious past but, now let’s get started with the Moto G (3rd Gen). The phone has a very simple design from the front and a very classy curvy back which has a vertical strip which houses the camera, LED flash and the Moto logo, this strip looks very beautiful and adds uniqueness in the design of the phone. The phone is very comfortable to hold in hand and offers good grip. It sports a 5 inches HD screen with 294 ppi pixel density which is decent. It is powered by Quad-core 1.4 GHz Snapdragon 410 Processor coupled with 2 GB RAM, it is definitely not for the heavy users but on a day-to-day basis it runs flawlessly and plays small to medium games efficiently. It runs on the latest Android 5.1.1 Lollipop with stock Android UI, which also makes the performance good. Great thing is that, it will always get the future Android updates and that too faster than many flagship phones! For the last two Moto G’s, camera was the weakest point, for the 3rd Gen it’s the strongest. It packs a 13 MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture lens, HDR & dual-LED flash. The 5 MP front camera comes with f/2.2 lens and a Field of view (FOV) of 72 degrees. Both the cameras are really good. An icing on the cake is, it is water-resistant for upto 30 minutes, this IPX7 certification is provided by no phone in the near price range. It has 16 GB internal & upto 32 GB expandable storage, Dual Sim, 4G, and a decent battery life with the 2470 mAh battery. Overall, it may not offer you the best specs but it is the most popular phone with a comfortable 5 inches screen and works perfectly well for normal users so, if you are not after heavy usage/gaming, it can still be a great buy under 10000 Rs.

5. Meizu M3 Note:

Meizu has launched its much awaited powerful budget smartphone Meizu M3 Note in India. The phone packs a beautiful and sturdy unibody metal design and is really very well-built, seeing the design, one cannot guess the phone costs just under 10k. If we look at the placement of buttons, the power and volume rockers rest on the right side and there is a physical home button on the front below the screen, which also integrates the fingerprint sensor but, there are no ‘back’ and ‘recent apps’ button on the phone, the home button itself does all these functions, off course inspired from the iPhones! The Meizu M3 Note sports a 5.5 inches Full HD screen which has very good display quality with good viewing angles. A 2.5D curved glass overlays the screen, which gives a good look and also feels nice in the hands. The phone is powered by the 1.8 GHz Mediatek Helio P10 Octa-core processor paired with 3 GB RAM, it gives good performance for medium usage but when it comes to heavy gaming the phone lags a little so, if you want a phone for gaming there are much better phones like the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 around this price. It features a 13 MP rear camera which does pretty well in good lighting conditions but struggles in low light conditions, the 5 MP front camera does a good job though. It runs on the older Android 5.1 Lollipop based company’s Flyme OS 5.1. It is a dual sim phone supporting 4G on both the slots. It comes with 32 GB internal storage which is expandable upto 128 GB via microSD card, but it has hybrid slot. The fingerprint scanner is fast and accurate most of the times. The phone is backed by a big 4100 mAh battery which gives it a very good battery backup. Overall, the Meizu M3 Note is an extremely well-built phone for its price, it also packs decent performance, good features and a good battery life. It can be another good choice, specially if you give more importance to design, it can be a great choice.

7. Coolpad Note 3 Plus:

Coolpad has upgraded its popular Note 3 with the new Coolpad Note 3 Plus, the only difference which the new phone brings in, is the improvement in display resolution which is now Full HD (1920 x 1080 Pixels) instead of the HD (1280 x 720 pixels) display in the Coolpad Note 3, which is a good move from the company seeing the constantly increasing competition. Talking about the design, it has got really slim bezels around the screen and a pretty simple design with plastic body but, it has got an Aluminium frame inside which gives it a good stability. The USP of the phone is the fingerprint sensor included on the back, which makes it one of the cheapest phones with fingerprint scanner in India. You can use the fingerprint scanner to quickly unlock the device, you can also protect the installed apps on the phone with the help of built-in app “FP lock” and can use the fingerprint scanner to unlock them. It comes with a 5.5 inches screen. The phone runs on a 1.3 GHz 64-bit Mediatek MT6753 Octa-core Processor coupled with 3 GB RAM, the performance of the phone is good. The volume buttons are placed at the back while the power key is placed on the top. If we talk about the performance, the phone is powered by 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 Quad Core Processor coupled with 2 GB RAM, which delivers a decent performance, it’s not the best at this price but it is good, the phone runs smooth and lag-free. It runs on Asus’s own ZenUI based on Android 5.0 Lollipop. It is a dual sim smartphone and supports 4G (LTE) on both the sim. It has got 16 GB internal storage which is expandable upto 32 GB. 9. Samsung Galaxy J2 Pro:

Samsung, in another attempt to maintain its position in the budget smartphone segment, has launched the new Galaxy J2 Pro, which boasts of some unique features like the Smart Glow and Turbo Speed Technology (TST). The Smart Glow feature is the LED notification ring surrounding the rear camera, its color can be customised for specific apps or individual contacts so, whenever someone calls you, you can identify the caller just by the color of the Notification ring. The smart glow feature also assists in taking selfies with the rear camera, when taking selfies with the rear camera, the notification ring illuminates if your face moves out of the frame. The Smart Glow, is a nice addition to the user experience. Talking about the Turbo Speed Technology, Samsung claims that due to it, the phone doesn’t hang and the apps load 40% faster compared to other phones in this range, although we do not completely agree with the company’s claim but, it surely does a better job than the similarly priced Samsung phones! When it comes to the design, the Galaxy J2 Pro has a typical Samsung design on the front side while, the back is little interesting this time but, with plastic all around, the phone doesn’t fell premium at all and the build quality is also average. The phone packs a 5 inch HD AMOLED display and has good display quality. Talking about the performance, it comes with 1.5 GHz Quad-Core Spreadtrum SC8830 Processor coupled with 2 GB RAM, which doesn’t impress much. It runs smoothly for normal usage most of the times but is not designed for gaming at all. The Galaxy J2 Pro features an 8 MP rear camera and a 5 MP front facing camera and both the cameras have average quality. It runs on the latest Android v6.0.1 Marshmallow with company’s TouchWiz UI running on top. Samsung has introduced few minor changes in the TouchWiz UI, now the app drawer comes with vertical scrolling, listing all apps at one page, it also includes notifications priority settings for the lock screen. It is a dual sim phone with 4G support, includes 16 GB internal storage which is expandable upto 128 GB and is backed by a 2600 mAh battery which gives good battery backup. It also includes Samsung’s S-Bike Mode and Ultra Data Saving Mode. Overall, the Samsung Galaxy J2 Pro comes with many gimmicky features which desperately try to hide one true fact, the phone in terms of its design, performance and camera lies much behind the competition at this price. So, only those with low to normal usage should think about going with it.
